Porch Sitting

A series of fortunate surprises turned our "normal" Thursday night porch sit/play into another lovely spring Woodsdale event. Of course, evenings are never dull when the boys get together with the girls. It's fun, it's silly, it's sailing the seas in a turtle shell. It's Woodsdale. Did I mention how much "normal" nights in the neighborhood make me homesick... already?

And, because "normal" often includes a bottle of "normal" neighborhood wine, and a Vocelli "2-pizza" deal (well-done, extra brown & crispy, obviously) and the kiddos yelling "hi!" to every passing neighbor, it was no wonder more neighbors started dropping by to say "hello." Jenny Brown and Stretch dropped over with Stretch's belated ice cream cake first... right before the ice cream drop started circling the block, luckily.

(The kids are stalking the ice cream truck in these pictures...)

And then, the amazing Brad and lovely Sue. Sadly, their girls grew up. But 6 years ago, a 10-year-old Colleen was the first person to eagerly welcome us to the neighborhood, with a shy Julie by her side. Beautiful family. Perfect neighbors. We're blessed to have them as friends, since we are unlucky-enough to no longer have them as neighbors! But, last Thursday night, we had them for the porch sit!

And then, because the front yard can never have enough drop-ins, Ed & Stacey drove past with 6 cups of DQ ice cream for all of the children. What a great neighborhood! And thank goodness for Lactaid on evenings like this!
