Peace Out Woodsdale

Sold. Well, just about. Next month, two months short of our 6th year in the Wild and Wonderful, our house will belong to someone else. Sadly, we won't transition straight from the best home in holler' to the trendiest house in the city. Luckily, our detour goes thru Carlisle, and a month or two on Aunt Jenn's couch could never be bad.

Better Late Than Never: A Week Without His Mama

Alexander spent THREE nights on his own. Three nights and four days without Mama, Daddy or Babes. OK, not exactly on his own. Ethan, Sarah, Norah and Charlotte kept him entertained and Aunt Jenn wiped his butt; but without the rest of us, so he was just about alone.

But for being so alone for 4 days, he didn't seem to miss us at all! The boy had a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's, milked a cow and made ice cream at the Turkey Hill Experience in Lancaster, baked special birthday cookies with Grandma and got Hershey Park Happy at the Chocolate Factory. I guess I can't blame him for not missing us... this time!

So Long, It's Been Good To Know Ya: We're Moving to New Jersey

I'm not sure I've gone this long without blogging about the boys' in... a long time. Maybe since Alexander's early days of reflux-y sleeplessness. But this time I'm not laying awake in the wee hours rocking my hungry, uncomfortable baby, I'm laying awake plotting our family's next adventure in New Jersey. Daddy accepted an amazing job in Metro NYC, and We're Moving To New Jersey!

Daddy accepted the job right after Thanksgiving, spent his last day at the WV Plant shortly before Christmas and moved to a New Jersey hotel, by himself, the first week of the new year. He's been in his new, second floor office flanked by two big windows, working with "really nice people" for a little more than a week, and as you can tell from his description, he loves it! It's a wonderful fit, thank goodness.

We decided to send Daddy by himself, so that Alexander could celebrate his birthday with all his friends, keep attending class each morning like normal and earn his purple belt, of course. But also so Daddy could really focus on his new position and finding us the perfect New Jersey home for our family.

And while Daddy's focusing on finding us a new home, the boys and I are focusing on selling our old home! We've been thinning out our collections, donating old toys and clothes and recycling our hordes of "re-usables." And slowly, but sadly, saying goodbye to all of our friends... in between Open Houses and House showings. Mama's never cleaned/organized/hid/entertained so often in the history of this home. Whoa.

Sew Crazy, It's a Family Affair

It's a little hard to notice the curtains, for all the silly, adorable, goofy boys, but mind you, the curtains are the focus. We've lived with the same, boring, thrift store, in-every-apartment-since-Mama-had-an-apartment curtains for 5-ish years, and Mama finally had the motivation to break with tradition. Wha-la, beautiful new curtains (with a matching back door curtain, of course.) You gotta keep out the crazy eyes somehow, right?

And since the machine was out, and Alexander's Bruno and the Banana Bunch PJs were way too short, I hemmed Bruno for Babes and used some of the Superman flannel for a new pair for A.  Look at that belly!
