Flying Purple People Eater: Halloween in Woodsdale

Woodsdale is the place to be for Trick or Treat in the Wild and Wonderful. Or, at least, that's the impression I get as the ghosts, goblins and princess fairies flop out of the illegally parked cars, minivans and microbus' at 6:28pm on Halloween night. This Halloween was a little lighter in the toddler to elementary set, because of the stormy weather, but the high school "sexy" crowd made up for the "cute" crowd's absence.

I have to admit, I do like all the new, Halloween night neighbors (well, maybe not the sexy ones...). Especially when some of the imports are coming to our house with their kiddo(s), homemade wine in a Whitetail Whiskey bottle and the best pumpkin bread/cake this pumpkin-hater ever tasted.

(Those are purple fangs Alexander scored at the preschool party and lost somewhere in Woodsdale later that night.)

Most people think the actual trick or treating would be the highlight for an almost five year old, but no, not Alexander. For the second or third Halloween now, we've cut the candy walk short to return to the porch and harass passersby to take one of our special apple treats. Alexander yells, dances, begs, it's wonderful.

Boo! Preschool Halloween Party

And, of course, there was some more treating and eating at school yesterday. All the little monsters dressed up, walked around the school to spook up even more candy and treats from their friends' teachers and then stuffed themselves on pizza AND cookies. Oh, the sugar high. As soon as we got home Alexander got home he said, surprisingly, "I'm going to bed now." Unfortunately, he didn't actually fall asleep, but he needed to after getting up for the day at 5am!
