Picture Day Morning

I got the memo last week, so I'm not quite sure how picture day snuck up on me like this. But when I looked at the calendar last night and realized I had less than 12 hours to pick out a unique "Alexander" ensemble, with no ties or suspenders in the closet (OK, I did try to use Daddy's Einstein tie, but I was vetoed quickly), Mama and Babes had to pick some fabric from the stash, set up the sewing machine and bust out a Super "POW" bowtie lickity-split.

Alexander approved. I liked his hair.

Obviously, with a bowtie this cool, the boy had to try on a few different personalities before heading off to school, and the non-Mama photographer...

Treat Day: Harold & the Purple Crayon

We really like Harold and the Purple Crayon book. Really like it. So when we were appointed a treat day on the same day Ms. Carol read Harold, it was like the stars had alighted. We had to do our part. So we (mostly Mama) painted purple apple trees on treat bags, drew purple dragons on cookie sleeves and painted one of everything, even Harold on the boy's dollar bin purple shirt. Success.

A's shirt was much more purple than it appears in this shirt...Anyway, as soon as he walked in his classroom, he told Ms. Carol to close her eyes, unzipped his coat & was so excited to show her his purple shirt... with HAROLD! Alexander even painted the apples on the tree... he's only 3, so he quickly got demoted to paint brush dipper. He was much better at that job! :)

Alexander & Baby

The neighborhood went back to school this week; and what better way to celebrate than teach the kid to spell his own name. This might take a little time....
